Terms & Conditions

These Terms govern access to and use of the LankaTrip website, mobile experience, and related services (together, the "Service"), operated by LankaTrip ("LankaTrip", "we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account, completing onboarding, generating or editing an itinerary, applying to become a guide, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

The Service has two main types of users: Travelers (tourists planning a trip to Sri Lanka) and Guides (independent local guides who offer services to travelers through the Service). Sections 3 and 4 below apply specifically to each group; Sections 1, 2, and 5–11 apply to everyone.

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, to create an account. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for keeping your login credentials confidential, and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.

We may suspend or terminate an account at our discretion if these Terms are violated, if information provided is false or misleading, or if required by law.

Trip profile and itinerary tool. When you complete onboarding, you provide preferences (dates, budget, interests, accessibility needs, and similar details) that LankaTrip uses to generate a suggested day-by-day itinerary. The itinerary is a planning aid based on available destination and attraction data — it is not a confirmed booking, reservation, ticket, or guarantee of availability, pricing, opening hours, or quality at any destination or attraction. Always verify details (opening hours, entry requirements, prices, safety conditions) directly with the relevant venue or operator before relying on them.

Editing your itinerary. You may edit, reorder, or regenerate your itinerary at any time. LankaTrip is not responsible for losses arising from edits you make, from a regenerated plan replacing a previous one, or from third-party changes (e.g. a venue closing) that occur after your itinerary was generated.

Guide matching and bookings.Where the Service allows you to connect with or book a Guide, any agreement for guiding services, transport, accommodation, or related activities is between you and the Guide (or third-party provider) directly. LankaTrip is not a party to that agreement and does not guarantee a Guide's availability, conduct, qualifications, or the quality of services they provide, beyond the verification steps described in Section 4.

Travel risk. Travel involves inherent risks, including but not limited to weather, terrain, wildlife, road conditions, and health risks. You are responsible for assessing your own fitness for activities suggested in your itinerary, obtaining appropriate travel insurance, and complying with local laws and entry requirements.

Application and verification. To offer services as a Guide, you must complete the guide application and onboarding process, which may include identity verification, license or certification checks, and profile review. We may approve, reject, or request additional information at our discretion, and may suspend or revoke guide status if information provided is false, expired, or no longer accurate.

Independent contractor status. Guides are independent providers, not employees, agents, or partners of LankaTrip. You are solely responsible for your own taxes, licenses, permits, insurance, and compliance with local tourism, transport, and labor regulations applicable to the services you offer.

Profile accuracy and conduct. Information in your guide profile (languages, expertise, pricing, availability, vehicle details, and similar) must be accurate and kept up to date. You agree to conduct yourself professionally, prioritize traveler safety, and honor commitments made through the Service. Misrepresentation, unsafe conduct, or repeated cancellations may result in suspension or removal from the Service.

Pricing and payments. Rates you publish through the Service are set by you. Payment terms, commission (if any), and payout schedules between you and LankaTrip will be described separately in a guide payment policy or agreement, which forms part of these Terms once published.

You agree not to: misuse the Service to harass, defraud, or endanger others; submit false reviews, ratings, or profile information; attempt to bypass security or access other users' accounts or data; scrape, copy, or republish destination, attraction, or guide data at scale without permission; or use the Service in a way that violates applicable law.

Your content. You retain ownership of information you submit (trip preferences, profile details, notes, reviews). By submitting it, you grant LankaTrip a license to use it to operate and improve the Service, including generating and storing your itinerary and displaying guide profiles to travelers.

Destination and attraction content. Descriptions, scores, images, and related data about destinations and attractions are provided for general planning purposes, may be incomplete, unverified, or sourced from third parties, and may change without notice. LankaTrip does not warrant the accuracy or completeness of this content.

Intellectual property. The Service, including its design, software, and branding, is owned by LankaTrip or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Service except as permitted by these Terms.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that generated itineraries will be accurate, complete, or suitable for your specific needs.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LankaTrip and its officers, employees, and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service, your interactions with Guides or third parties, or reliance on any itinerary or content provided through the Service.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LankaTrip from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your interactions with other users or third parties, including any guiding, transport, or accommodation services arranged through the Service.

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, in whole or in part, at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, third parties, or LankaTrip.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of placeholder jurisdiction, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Replace this with the jurisdiction your business actually operates under and have it reviewed by local counsel.
